Applications

This is a list of homepages for applications that I like to use. Most of them are free and open source software and I highly recommend you check them out.

Firefox

The best web browser. It is fast, very secure, has a lot of modern features and it runs everywhere.

Thunderbird

My favourite e-mail client. Great protection against spam and phishing. Also has support for RSS and Atom feeds.

OpenOffice.org

Completely free office suit. Supports OpenDocument Format standard. It has native support for exporting into PDF and Flash.

GIMP

The GNU Image Manipulation Program. Great for editing your photos and drawing new images.

KDE

In my opinion K Desktop Environment is currently the best desktop for personal computers. It looks great, it’s very configurable and integration of applications is superb.

GNU/Linux

GNU/Linux is a very stable and secure operating system. There are no problems with viruses or spyware at all. Many flavours (called distributions) are available so you can choose the one that suits you the most.
